Compact Track Loader and Compact Excavator Rental Rates in North Carolina
At ACT, a compact track loader rents for $275 to $475 a day, $850 to $1,100 a week, or $2,500 to $3,300 a month, and a compact excavator rents for $200 to $625 a day, $500 to $1,550 a week, or $1,300 to $4,345 a month, before delivery. Machine size, high-flow hydraulics, and attachments set where you land. A week costs about the same as three days and a month about the same as three weeks, so price the week for any job over two days.

“From” prices are the smallest machine in each class. Rates from ACT’s rental department, October 2026, subject to change, before delivery and attachments. The full fleet with every rate is on the Rentals page, and the Charlotte rental page covers how renting from ACT works step by step.
What changes the price
- Machine size. Heavier machines with more dig depth or lift cost more to rent, as they do to buy and transport.
- Hydraulics and attachments. A high-flow loader running a mulching head prices differently from a standard-flow loader with a bucket. Attachments go on the quote with the machine.
- Rental period. Longer periods carry lower effective daily rates. ACT rents by the day, week, month, and year.
- Delivery distance. Delivery and pickup are charged separately and quoted by location. Rental equipment ships from ACT’s Charlotte branch.
- Availability. Rates are typical for each class, not guaranteed for a specific machine on a specific day. Booking a few days ahead gives the rental desk time to move the right machine to your nearest branch.
Daily, weekly, or monthly
The numbers make the decision simple. A Takeuchi TL8 track loader is $275 a day or $850 a week, so three days ($825) already costs a week. A TB240 excavator is $400 a day or $850 a week, so the week wins on day three. Monthly rates run about three weeks’ worth: the TL8 is $2,500 a month against $850 a week. In other words, once a job runs past two days, price the week, and past three weeks, price the month. The extra days are yours for weather, a slow inspection, or the next job.
You do not have to get it right up front. ACT’s rental team monitors active rentals and moves you to the weekly or monthly rate when that is cheaper for you, and extensions are handled the same way. The delivery charge does not change with the length of the rental, so a longer term spreads it further.
What is included and what is extra
- Included: a machine that goes out serviced and ready to work, and no repair bills for normal use. Normal wear and tear is not charged.
- Extra: delivery and pickup, quoted by location, and any attachments you add (attachment rates run from $59 a day for pallet forks to $250 a day for an auger).
- Coverage, your choice: ACT’s loss and damage waiver (LDW) added to the rental agreement, or a completed certificate of insurance (COI) from your insurance company.
- Your responsibility: an operator (ACT does not supply operators) and damage caused by negligence.
When renting stops making sense
Renting wins when a machine works a few jobs a year. Once you are renting the same class most weeks, the annual rental spend starts to approach the cost of owning, and ownership begins to pay you back through resale value. Our guide to what a compact excavator costs lays out the break-even logic, and ACT will put a rental rate and a purchase quote side by side on request.
