Takeuchi compact track loader available to rent from ACT in Charlotte
Takeuchi track loaders and excavators, Develon excavators, and Bandit chippers and stump grinders all rent from the Charlotte branch on Metromont Parkway, which supplies rental equipment to every ACT branch.
Quick Answer

ACT rents Takeuchi and Develon compact excavators, Takeuchi compact track loaders, Develon wheel loaders and excavators, and Bandit wood chippers and stump grinders to businesses from its Charlotte branch at 10925 Metromont Parkway, the branch that supplies rental equipment to all of ACT’s locations. Current rates run $200 to $625 a day for a compact excavator and $275 to $475 a day for a compact track loader, with weekly and monthly rates below. Delivery and pickup are quoted by location. To rent, you need an approved credit account and either ACT’s loss and damage waiver or a certificate of insurance from your carrier. Call 800.462.2447 for a quote.

The rental fleet

ACT rents virtually every brand and machine it sells, to business customers. Charlotte holds most of ACT’s rental fleet, and rental equipment for every ACT branch ships from here, so a machine that is not on the lot today is usually a phone call away. Call a few days ahead when you can and the machine will be ready when your contract starts.

Rates from ACT’s rental department, October 2026, and subject to change. Prices do not include delivery and pickup, which are quoted by location, or attachments. A machine is rented for a day when it is practical for the job; the rental desk will tell you when it is not. Larger breakers and grapples are quoted on request.

ACT rents by the day, week, and month. On most machines a week costs about the same as three days, and a month about the same as three weeks, so a job that runs past two days is usually priced by the week. The rental team watches active rentals and moves you to the weekly or monthly rate when that is cheaper for you. The complete fleet with rates is on the Rentals page, and our North Carolina rental rates guide explains what moves the price.

How renting from ACT works, start to finish

Every equipment rental starts with paperwork, at ACT or anywhere else: nobody hands over a machine on a card swipe. Here is the whole process, so there are no surprises.

  1. Describe the job. Call the Charlotte branch or send the contact form with what you are doing, the site conditions, and how long the work should run. The rental desk recommends the machine, the attachments, and the rental period that make sense.
  2. Set up credit. If you are not already set up with ACT, fill out the online credit application. If you are unsure whether you will be approved, call the rental desk to talk through your options before you plan around a machine.
  3. Choose how the machine is covered. Either add ACT’s loss and damage waiver (LDW) to the rental agreement, or provide a completed certificate of insurance (COI) from your insurance company. If you are not sure which is right for you, the rental desk will walk you through both.
  4. Review and sign the rental agreement. The agreement sets the rental period, the rate, and your responsibilities for the machine. Read it before you sign and ask about anything that is not clear, including cleaning and damage terms.
  5. Pick up or schedule delivery. Bring a truck and trailer rated for the machine, or have ACT deliver it to the jobsite. Delivery and pickup fees are quoted by location when you book.
  6. Run the job. Rentals go out serviced and ready to work, and you never pay for repairs from normal use. Normal wear and tear is not charged; damage caused by negligence is. If something goes wrong, call ACT, and if the machine is damaged, notify your insurance company right away.
  7. Return it or extend it. When the work is finished, call the rental desk at 800.462.2447 to schedule pickup, or return the machine with your own trailer. If the job runs long, keep the machine: extensions are handled by the rental team, who adjust the rental to the weekly or monthly rate when that is cheaper for you.

What to have ready

  • An approved ACT credit account, or the online credit application completed
  • ACT’s loss and damage waiver added to the agreement, or a completed certificate of insurance from your carrier
  • The job details: what you are digging, grading, clearing, or chipping, the ground conditions, and the start date
  • How long you expect to need the machine, including a little extra time for weather
  • A truck and trailer rated for the machine, or the jobsite address for delivery
  • An operator on your crew who can run the machine; ACT does not supply operators

Delivery and pickup around Charlotte

ACT delivers and picks up rental equipment across the Carolinas. Delivery and pickup fees vary with the distance from the branch and are quoted by location when you book. The Charlotte branch serves Mecklenburg, Union, Anson, Richmond, Scotland, Moore, Montgomery, Stanly, Cabarrus, Lincoln, Catawba, Iredell, Alexander, Caldwell, Burke, McDowell, Watauga, Cleveland and Gaston counties in North Carolina, and York, Chester and Lancaster counties in South Carolina. Because the delivery charge does not change with the length of the rental, it spreads further on a weekly or monthly term. Equipment for every ACT branch ships from Charlotte, so other locations can quote delivery from here as well.

Attachments you can rent with the machine

One machine with the right attachment can do the work of several. Ask about attachments when you book, since they need to go out with the machine. Current attachment rates are in the table above.

  • Buckets and thumbs on select excavators, for digging, loading, and handling material
  • Mulching heads and brush cutters for land clearing and vegetation control
  • Trenchers and augers for utility, fencing, and landscaping work
  • Grapples, stump cutters, and hammers for debris, stumps, and demolition

Renting before you buy

A rental is the lowest-risk way to try a machine on your own jobs before committing to it. ACT sells new and used equipment from the same Charlotte branch and offers financing, and the Charlotte shop provides parts and service. If you are weighing whether to keep renting or buy, our guide to what a compact excavator costs to rent or own walks through the break-even math.

Common questions

How much does it cost to rent a compact excavator in Charlotte?
At ACT, compact excavators rent from $200 a day for the Takeuchi TB225 to $625 a day for the TB290 or Develon DX85R-3, before delivery. Weekly rates run $500 to $1,550 and monthly rates $1,300 to $4,345. Call the Charlotte branch at 800.462.2447 for a quote on the machine you need.
How much does it cost to rent a compact track loader in Charlotte?
ACT’s compact track loaders rent for $275 a day (Takeuchi TL8) to $475 a day (Takeuchi TL12 and Develon DTL35), $850 to $1,100 a week, and $2,500 to $3,300 a month, before delivery.
Is a compact excavator the same as a mini excavator?
Yes. Compact excavator is the manufacturers’ term for the machines many people call mini excavators, roughly 3,900 to 19,000 lb at ACT. If you searched for a mini excavator rental, the compact excavator rates above are the ones you want.
What do I need to rent equipment from ACT?
An approved credit account (the credit application is online), either ACT’s loss and damage waiver or a certificate of insurance from your carrier, and a way to move the machine: your own truck and trailer rated for it, or ACT delivery. Knowing the job and how long it will run helps the rental desk match the right machine.
Does ACT deliver rental equipment in the Charlotte area?
Yes. Delivery and pickup fees are quoted by location. The Charlotte branch serves Mecklenburg and the surrounding counties in North Carolina, plus York, Chester and Lancaster counties in South Carolina, and ships rental equipment to every ACT branch.
What happens if I need the machine longer than planned?
Keep working. The rental team monitors active rentals and extends yours, moving it to the weekly or monthly rate when that is cheaper for you. When you are finished, call 800.462.2447 to schedule pickup.
What is covered if the machine is damaged?
You choose when you sign: ACT’s loss and damage waiver (LDW) added to the rental agreement, or a completed certificate of insurance from your own insurance company. Normal wear and tear is never charged.
Does ACT provide an operator with the rental?
No. ACT rents equipment for your crew to operate and does not supply operators. The rental desk will help you choose a machine your team can run safely for the job.
Can I buy the machine after renting it?
Renting is a good way to try a machine before you buy it. ACT sells new and used equipment and offers financing, so talk to the Charlotte team if a rental machine turns out to be the right fit for your fleet.
