Compact Track Loader and Compact Excavator Rental Rates in North Carolina

What a rental costs comes down to the machine class, the attachments, the rental period, and how far it travels to your jobsite.
Quick Answer

At ACT, a compact track loader rents for $275 to $475 a day, $850 to $1,100 a week, or $2,500 to $3,300 a month, and a compact excavator rents for $200 to $625 a day, $500 to $1,550 a week, or $1,300 to $4,345 a month, before delivery. Machine size, high-flow hydraulics, and attachments set where you land. A week costs about the same as three days and a month about the same as three weeks, so price the week for any job over two days.

Compact track loader rental rates

ACT rents the Takeuchi TL line from the TL8 up to the high-flow TL12, plus the Develon DTL35 and a Kanga mini loader for tight access work. Current rates, before delivery:

Takeuchi TL87,485 lb1,800 lb$275$850$2,500

Develon DTL35$475$1,100$3,300

Smaller loaders sit at the bottom of the range; the larger machines that run mulching heads and other demanding attachments sit at the top (a TL12 with a mulcher rents for $1,000 a day). Every loader is available with or without a cab. Our guide to sizing a Takeuchi track loader covers which size fits which job.

Compact excavator rental rates

ACT’s compact excavators run from the 3,900 lb Takeuchi TB210/216 to the 19,000 lb Develon DX85R-3, with Takeuchi and Develon models side by side at most sizes. Current rates, before delivery:

Match the dig depth and weight to the deepest trench and the heaviest lift on the job, with some margin. Our guide to choosing a compact excavator size walks through it. Full-size excavators (Develon DX140 to DX350, 30,000 to 78,000 lb) rent for $625 to $2,000 a day.

“From” prices are the smallest machine in each class. Rates from ACT’s rental department, October 2026, subject to change, before delivery and attachments. The full fleet with every rate is on the Rentals page, and the Charlotte rental page covers how renting from ACT works step by step.

What changes the price

  • Machine size. Heavier machines with more dig depth or lift cost more to rent, as they do to buy and transport.
  • Hydraulics and attachments. A high-flow loader running a mulching head prices differently from a standard-flow loader with a bucket. Attachments go on the quote with the machine.
  • Rental period. Longer periods carry lower effective daily rates. ACT rents by the day, week, month, and year.
  • Delivery distance. Delivery and pickup are charged separately and quoted by location. Rental equipment ships from ACT’s Charlotte branch.
  • Availability. Rates are typical for each class, not guaranteed for a specific machine on a specific day. Booking a few days ahead gives the rental desk time to move the right machine to your nearest branch.

Daily, weekly, or monthly

The numbers make the decision simple. A Takeuchi TL8 track loader is $275 a day or $850 a week, so three days ($825) already costs a week. A TB240 excavator is $400 a day or $850 a week, so the week wins on day three. Monthly rates run about three weeks’ worth: the TL8 is $2,500 a month against $850 a week. In other words, once a job runs past two days, price the week, and past three weeks, price the month. The extra days are yours for weather, a slow inspection, or the next job.

You do not have to get it right up front. ACT’s rental team monitors active rentals and moves you to the weekly or monthly rate when that is cheaper for you, and extensions are handled the same way. The delivery charge does not change with the length of the rental, so a longer term spreads it further.

What is included and what is extra

  • Included: a machine that goes out serviced and ready to work, and no repair bills for normal use. Normal wear and tear is not charged.
  • Extra: delivery and pickup, quoted by location, and any attachments you add (attachment rates run from $59 a day for pallet forks to $250 a day for an auger).
  • Coverage, your choice: ACT’s loss and damage waiver (LDW) added to the rental agreement, or a completed certificate of insurance (COI) from your insurance company.
  • Your responsibility: an operator (ACT does not supply operators) and damage caused by negligence.

When renting stops making sense

Renting wins when a machine works a few jobs a year. Once you are renting the same class most weeks, the annual rental spend starts to approach the cost of owning, and ownership begins to pay you back through resale value. Our guide to what a compact excavator costs lays out the break-even logic, and ACT will put a rental rate and a purchase quote side by side on request.

Common questions

How much does it cost to rent a compact track loader in North Carolina?
At ACT, compact track loaders rent for $275 a day (Takeuchi TL8) to $475 a day (Takeuchi TL12 and Develon DTL35), $850 to $1,100 a week, and $2,500 to $3,300 a month, before delivery.
How much does it cost to rent a compact excavator in North Carolina?
ACT’s compact excavators rent from $200 a day for the Takeuchi TB225 to $625 a day for the TB290 or Develon DX85R-3. Weekly rates run $500 to $1,550 and monthly rates $1,300 to $4,345, before delivery.
Is a compact excavator the same as a mini excavator?
Yes. Compact excavator is the manufacturers’ term for what many people call a mini excavator. At ACT that covers machines from 3,900 to 19,000 lb; the rates above are the ones you want.
Is it cheaper to rent by the day or by the week?
For anything longer than two days, price the week. A Takeuchi TL8 is $275 a day or $850 a week, so three days costs about the same as seven. Past three weeks, the monthly rate wins the same way, and ACT’s rental team moves you to the cheaper rate automatically on an active rental.
Do rental rates include delivery?
No. Delivery and pickup are quoted by location when you book. Rental equipment ships from ACT’s Charlotte branch to jobsites across North and South Carolina.
Do rental rates include attachments?
No. Attachments go on the quote with the machine. Current rates run from $59 a day for pallet forks and $100 for a 4-in-1 bucket to $200 for a hydraulic breaker and $250 for an auger with bit; mulching packages are priced as a machine and head together.
What if the machine is damaged?
You choose how it is covered when you sign: ACT’s loss and damage waiver added to the agreement, or a completed certificate of insurance from your own carrier. Normal wear and tear is never charged.
How do I get an exact rental quote?
Call ACT at 800.462.2447 or contact your nearest branch with the machine, the attachments, the dates, and the jobsite address for delivery. The rental desk confirms availability and the delivery charge for your location.
