Answers to ACT’s Most Common Questions

We know you need fast, accurate information to keep your machines running. This guide is to give clear answers to the most common equipment questions we receive.

1. What are the recommended service intervals for my Takeuchi equipment?

To keep your machine in good working condition, perform the prescribed inspections and maintenance as described below. Operating in harsh environments may require more frequent inspections and maintenance. It is helpful to keep your machine clean and cover the electrical parts when cleaning to ensure no moisture enters the electrical components.

The inspection and maintenance items are divided into groups according to the machine’s total operating time: 10 hours, (walk-around and daily inspection), 50 hours, and 250 hours, etc.

Many of these listed maintenance items should be performed by a trained technician. The list in the guide linked below is for general reference as to when you should consider either doing maintenance or scheduling maintenance for your equipment to ensure that it will perform at its best and for as long as possible.

2. Where can I find the serial number on my Takeuchi or Bandit equipment?

On your Takeuchi track loader, you will find a small metal plate affixed to the front of the machine under the front glass/door. This plate will have both the model number and the serial number of the unit.

Bandit makes each of its wood chipper units custom, so Bandit maintains a “build sheet” of each wood chipper they manufacture. The number to reference this build sheet is welded to the tongue of the machine’s trailer. Note that the engine and bellhousing may also have numbers on them, but the number welded to the tongue indicates all parts the machine was built with and is the best way to identify your particular Bandit Wood Chipper.

See the full guide linked below for more information.

3. How do I avoid fuel system contamination from dust and dirt?

While fueling, it is essential to always put the nozzle on the pump instead of allowing it to fall to the ground, where dirt and dust can be collected.

While operating, make sure the vent tube and fuel tank caps are tightly sealed to stop dust from getting in.
Review the full guide linked below for more tips.

5. Which engine oil and hydraulic oil should I use for my Takeuchi equipment?

Takeuchi track loaders and compact excavators are versatile machines that offer incredible value, especially when service intervals and oil recommendations are followed.

To simplify the process of selecting the appropriate oil for your Takeuchi equipment, linked below is a full guide with a convenient chart that outlines the recommended oil specifications for different models.

6. How does the regen process work on Takeuchi compact excavators?

Takeuchi’s exhaust treatment system involves a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). The process of “Regeneration” or “Regen” is when the soot accumulates in the filter which results in the engine’s exhaust temperatures increasing to attempt to burn off that soot. Usually, this process is automatic, and the machine does not need to stop working to complete it.

A machine may need parked or manual regen if:

  • It is left in extended periods of idling
  • The machine is not used very often
  • Improper oil or fuel is used in the machine
  • The machine has a low operating temperature

Review the full guide linked below for detailed information.
