To keep your machine in good working condition, perform the prescribed inspections and maintenance as described below. Operating in harsh environments may require more frequent inspections and maintenance. It is helpful to keep your machine clean and cover the electrical parts when cleaning to ensure no moisture enters the electrical components.

The inspection and maintenance items are divided into groups according to the machine’s total operating time: 10 hours, (walk-around and daily inspection), 50 hours and 250 hours etc.

Many of these listed maintenance items should be performed by a trained technician, this list is for general reference as to when you should consider either doing maintenance or scheduling maintenance for your equipment to ensure that it will perform at its best and for as long as possible.

The table below shows the general intervals, and the maintenance item(s) needing to be replaced at those intervals.

It is recommended that a daily inspection be made of the machine to include the below:

Walk-Around Inspection before operating, make repairs immediately as necessary:

  1. Before starting the engine, check for any leaks by opening the engine compartment and inspecting the surroundings of the engine. Also check for loose connections and loose nuts and bolts.
  2. Check lights on the machine for dirt and damage and to make certain they are in working order. Check attachments for leaks or damage, broken teeth on buckets etc.
  3. Check any handrails and steps for looseness or damage.
  4. Inspect track for excessive wear or looseness and check track rollers for wear or damage.
  5. Check for oil leakage from the travel motor rollers etc.
  6. Check for damage to cab or canopy and for damage to mirrors.

Inspect While in Operators Seat

  1. Check windshield for dirt or damage that would hinder visibility.
  2. Check seat and seatbelt for dirt and damage.
  3. Check monitors and instruments for damage including switches and other controls.

Daily Inspection (Every 10 hours)

  1. Inspect cooling system and coolant level. Repair any leaks and check coolant and fill as needed.
  2. Inspect engine oil level, fill as needed
  3. Inspect the water separator with the starter switch in the on position, if the lamp is flashing, drain the water
  4. Check fuel level, fill as needed
  5. Inspect the hydraulic oil level. Fill as needed.
  6. Lubricate the work equipment. Use a grease gun to fill at lubrication points.

For New Machines, at 50 hours

  1. Replace the engine oil and oil filter
  2. Inspect and adjust the fan belt
  3. Inspect and adjust the AC compressor belt
  4. Inspect and adjust the crawler tension
  5. Lubricate the slew bearing
  6. Drain the water from the fuel tank
  7. Inspect the battery
